A couple months ago, during a internet search I came across a wonderful Greek word, purely by accident, that has stuck with me ever since. Meraki. I definitely wasn't searching for anything related to this, but it popped out at me.
Meraki [may-rah-kee]
(n.) The soul, creativity, or love put into something; the essence of yourself that is put into your work.
It is used more with the modern Greeks. It is said to be untranslatable with no literal comparisons. It sounds like more of a concept or a feeling. It's even been included in the book - 'In Other Words: A Language Lover's Guide to the most intriguing words around the world'. Sounds like an interesting read.
I totally identified with this concept. Each creative thing I make I put my heart into. When I give them away, it feels like I'm giving a piece of me. Sounds crazy, right! I love to give them away, to share my love with the people I love. I hope the people receiving them enjoy them (usually cards) and are encouraged.
I thought if I ever share or sell my cards that is the name I want to use. So here we are. It is taking me a little longer that I thought to get things going.
